Nice dozer! We just bought a 2006 Komatsu 61px and we posted a video of changing the cab mounts. I don't recommend buying a used dozer if it needs cab mounts. That was an awful job!

My company has done away with probing for live lines. We are required to use a vacuum truck to locate then we can work around the utilities. And this is just for unknown live lines that are marked and have never been seen by our crew.

I would advise that anyone absolutely stay away from a labor union .....because you get stuck in a 4-5 year contract and will be unable to join the operators. A great way to get in is by being a permit worker. Save your money and get a CDL, which is an automatic in for an apprenticeship slot.

IUOE in KY scale ranges from 35-40

Started at the company I’m with now at $22/hr as a starting position equipment operator, got moved to foreman making $29/hr now. Here in Eastern NC

has nobody made an excavator that can move the boom and dipper together , in a straight line with one lever movement? i mean surely it would only need encoders on the rams so a processor knows the positions, and it could control one or both hydraulic circuits to make a seamless smooth straight line

$68.70 an hour here in western Massachusetts. You get more the further wast towards Boston you go.

I disagree with him about not paying the same price for hard labor and compare it to McDonald’s. I’m not starting someone out at 18$ an hour that knows nothing. Plus I would rather be outside working and feeling good about myself for 15 than be trapped behind a grill with customers staring at me for 17.50 some of us are made for hard labor
